PROJECT EXAMPLES

iMacs and reading and TV
The family room was cluttered with 2 iMacs and the peripherals; there was no place to put a book within reach of the easy chair; and the TV remote hid in plain site.  And then, company would come...
The solution was to make iMac tables/cabinets and a storage cabinet with a table top.  The iMacs could sit on the table, and swivel on the inset lazy Susan; or could be placed in the cabinet when company came over.  The storage cabinet has 4 drawers to organize 'stuff'.  But the fugitive remote gets the top drawer, if not placed on top of the table top.  If the residents forget who they are, the yin-yang inlay gives a clue; one name starts with C and the other with S, no matter where you sit.  Just look at the final family room picture.
The custom woodwork is family room furnishings that fit the use and style needed; and the Blue Door Project, supporting teenage foster children, benefits by receiving a donation of the full commission price.
THE SHOWROOM FLOOR

I aspire to replace all the woodwork in our house with what I have made.  Come to our house to see the show room of what has been done and to ponder on what can be done.  As our thoughts take form on your project - know what we do together will benefit your favorite charities.

While employed at a wonderful company, Burns & McDonnell, I contributed to United Way routinely; I was a member of their Tocqueville Society.  My intention is to more than replace this contribution to our community by enabling giving one commission at a time.  Your action on engaging a commission with The Other Path goes specifically to addressing your identified community need priorities

Want to come by the showroom, look at what has been done, be sociable over a beverage, and talk about what can be done - for you and through you?

Going to the DOGS?

I don't know about you, but autumn in this area might be my favorite season.  A great outing on a clear fall day is a Saturday trip to Werner's.  We needed some fresh sausages for grilling at home, and Tom was providing banter and grilled sausages for lunch outside the long established Mission shop.  An 8 1/2 X 11 sheet tacked to the outdoor stand stated a need for a carpenter; the weather was warm and sunny, but the stand did not measure up to the setting.  It was worn, tired and in need of repair.

Tom and Rachel, the shop manager, asked if I could rehab the stand, one piece at a time, using that approach to assure that the stand would continuously be available every week , and afford opportunity to measure and design a new stand.  Ever the astute businessman, I proceeded to work my way out of a job: 3 weeks and a couple pieces of the stand worked on each week and the rehabbed whole was as good as new.

The owners of Werner's love their pets and care about the welfare of other animals.  At their request, the payment for this commission went to the ASPCA.

CURRENT SHOP CAPACITY

I am working on the designs of a queen size head board and the cabinets for two bathrooms.  I am building a kitchen table, a knitting cabinet, some shelves, and am repairing some antique furniture.

The good news for you is - that is not enough.  The shop has capacity.  Let's get together, maybe have a beer, hang out at a century old family farm, and plan your project.
