Family Dining Table

This table is used for family meals, and get togethers. The top is made of pine planks, each spaced about 1/8 inch apart. Drawers are used on each side; one for silverware and the other for placemats. To keep spills from going into the drawers and to facilitate family dinner preparation, cutting boards slide over the top of the drawers.
Bill's Grandfather's Rocker

Bill's grandfather was a memorable guy, and a lasting image is one of him sitting in this rocker on the front porch. This rocker served him well, but it had literally come apart at the joints and was unusable, even as a keepsake.
I am honored that Bill entrusted me to rehab the rocker. It likely dates to pre-1940s; is built with hickory, some of which is bent wood; the joints were glued with animal hide glue and the finish is shellac.
I repaired the rocker using similar materials. Broken pieces were replaced with hickory or were repaired. I used animal hide glue and garnet shellac. The original build of the rocker has been maintained. And, a benefit of using these materials is that Bill can restore the rocker himself in 30 years if usage has broken the joints down.
Bill asked that the commission for the rocker rehab go to The Wounded Warrior Project. He is the happy guy with hair.

Toy Swords

Some say it is boy DNA; see a stick and it becomes a sword. Why not up the game? I made a few rough ones for my son; friends have seen them and asked if they can get one for one for their backyard warrior.
Moulding Repair

I would never have thought. Bondo. These rambunctious-dog-modified-pieces-of moulding were repaired using Bondo. No overall replacement; no mismatch between moulding that has been painted many times over vs the new pieces. Easily shaped and worked, the Bondo repairs are repainted and you can't find the damaged area.
